Right, so I've been busy lately but the next 2 weeks is the holidays so I'm planning to work more on Cross Country and aim to finish it very soon.

Since the last post, a lot more has been done to the flash but I still have 2 certain scenes to do. Then I'm gonna start tweaking everything making sure the 'story' is intertwined nicely and the music syncs perfectly. Until then, here's another preview pic.
I'm still hoping to finish it by the end of the month but no guarantees. I'll make a post by then and let you know.

My first proper flash attempt, Cross Country is close to halfway through development, almost 2 months in since starting. So far, at least 3 minutes of nonstop animation from the beginning has been done and bits and bobs all throughout. Right now, I'm just doing it as I find motivation and inspiration.
The trickiest part so far was to continually test the movie. It's a 12 minute movie so I want to make sure the finished article can be formatted properly. That, and I have to make sure everything syncs. I've redone certain elements to sync with the music several times to make sure it all runs to the music. It's part of my philosophy after all, to make the music the primary focus of the flash.
Hopefully by the end of this month I'll have finished, or near finished this movie. The more I watch the test versions the more excited I get. It won't be a Top 50 submission by any means but I'm making sure that everything about this flash is filled with quality.
Stay tuned.

It's been a month since I started work on my first proper Flash attempt which I have titled Cross Country. It is essentially a man running through various landscapes; forest, canyons and desert. It's a very music orientated flash, as the song will determine the pace and the mood of it. So far, I'm about 10% done. I've done various backgrounds and animations, but so far nothing spectacular. I will however have a lot more to work on over the next few weeks.
Stay tuned.

The main ideas I have in my head is to have my flashes very music-oriented. The songs direct the flow of the flash so to speak. This one I'm doing has a song about 10 minutes long. It's a very atmospheric song and one I think will set the tone perfectly for my flash.
So far, it's still early days. I've just done a few backgrounds and animation clips but I'll see to it that I finish it in due time and see what you guys think. I'm gonna put a lot of work into this.
Stay tuned.

That and my laziness catching up on me and not bothering to reinstall Flash has killed all desire to restart, let alone finish the flashes. Guess I'll leave it to another time.

Progress has been slow at bes, what with me working most of the time but I've done more on this flash than any one before it. That said, nothing more than 5 seconds was done on those previous, and that was just opening credits.
Still, about 20 seconds have been done and I've got a lot more confidence in my skills. By putting stuff into graphics and putting layers within them, I can edit backgrounds and the like as I go along without fearing of tearing everything apart. Fpr now, it's just s bunch of weapons being loaded, but I will soon be getting to the stage where motorcycle and shooting action comes in,
Meanwhile however, I've been inspired to make another flash. There's a new law taking effect next month which increases the legal age of buying tobacco from 16 to 18 and I've been focusing on a flash inspired by that new law. It will focus primarily on how it will affect young chavs. The other flash is being put on the backburner for now, seeing as it's a more ambitious piece and this Tobacco 18 flash will help ease me into improving my skills.
I'll make an update when I've put considerable progress into both flashes. I plan to get this chav flash done by the end of this month.

I have the ideas in my head and how I'd execute them but I always get the case of Animator's Block stopping me. But now I've started work on one and hope to stick to it. It will be an action Flash with a hint of backstory. It'll have a song play throughout the action, complimenting the action instead of being an afterthought. In fact, most of the flashes I have in mind will feature a song to determine its mood.
I'll put some work on it for a week or so and see where things go with it. I've always wanted to submit something to the Portal and seeing all these terrible flashes getting in because of all these groups 5'ing them to stay, I decided to put my part in. Stay tuned.
